For Gram

The stars dangle in the deep blue
Like your bright gardenia blossoms,
Lighting my path to where you lay.
As I make it to my destination
I pray for only one thing. You.
Loving wife, mother, and grandmother,
As you are remembered for the generations to come.
My only wish is to feel your warm embrace one last time
And to take it with me forever and always,
Knowing how special that miraculous memory would be.
But I’m all grown up now and should know better than to wish for the impossible.
For now, I’ll have to find a new way to feel your love,
And share mine with you.
I leave you with a whisper,
And hope to see you in my dreams,
While I sleep under those same starry blossoms
