This world is a different place with you.
It still spins in orbit and rotates on a tilt,
But for the first time in forever I’m aware
Of how fast it travels around the sun.
The redundancy of days is gone.
I’m no longer bored when morning breaks.
Hours aren’t lonely place holders for the next –
They are living miracles meant for us to keep.
The beauty in a shared sunset doesn’t end
When the sun is lost for the night.
It lingers on in the darkness long after,
We say goodnight but refuse to shut our eyes.
The air is more than an element that sustains
With little thanks of any form in return.
It’s that crisp, irreplaceable reminder that I live
For you. For us. For our world we’ve created.
