An Intermission

Unsettling is the silence
That follows an unbroken
Clutter of wishes and woes.
Life muted makes the visions
Of reality before us swell in
A mind transfixed on knowing.
Always knowing, always known.
Our understanding comes out
Of the words of worlds explored,
And silence in such situations
Propagates fear of a lonely
There is no given value of silence
As a welcomed break from the
Pressing hectic headspace possessed.
Yet all the while that headspace
Is a traffic jam of “this or that”s
The thing we crave the most
Is a fragile moment of quiet.
Not a conclusion but rather
A silently seductive intermission.
